    Responsibilities

    The Vet Center Psychologist is responsible for providing professional services to eligible veterans and family members.  The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Director of the Vet Center and is expected to provide clinical services under the accepted APA guidelines for psychologists.  The work is comprised of providing clinical services consistent with accepted standards of ethical and professional mental health treatment.  The incumbent also provides professional family therapy, crisis intervention, outreach and community education services as needed.

    Major duties include but is not limited to:

    - The incumbent will provide at least 50% direct service time as a Psychologist and provide direct service to the Vet Center clients and their families.

    - The incumbent will function with a minimum of clinical oversight and is expected to make autonomous decisions regarding clinical issues and is responsible for the assessment and treatment of complex cases, to include veteran's families and PTSD as it relates to family issues.

    - The incumbent will provide psychodiagnostic testing and psychological assessment to those clients in the outreach program.

    - The incumbent will collaborate on individual cases with appropriate programs and professional treatment staff a the Medical Center.

    - The incumbent will participate with the Director of the Vet Center to select clients and course of group counseling.

    - The incumbent will provide Vet Center Staff with in-service professional training to enhance clinical skills.

    - The incumbent is responsible for, and provides direct supervision to, Psychology, Psy.D., and Ph.D. candidate interns assigned to the Vet Center.

    - The incumbent is responsible for participating in and presenting at psychology/psychiatry clinical case conferences in order to provide relevant information to multidisciplinary treatment staff.

    - The incumbent initiates research and conducts these activities both alone and in collaboration with coleagues in areas which may lead to additional information useful to treat the veterans.

    - The incumbent will serve as a consultant and trainer for community  organizations in the area of diagnosis and treatment of war zone veterans and families of these veterans.

    Work Schedule:Primary: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. some evening hours required and a possibility of working on some weekends.
