    Responsibilities

The Psychologist position is located within the Residential Care Section of the Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) on the Albuquerque Campus. The four core Mental Health disciplines of, Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatry, and Nursing work well together within our Residential Care Section.   We have 85 Residential beds across 4 units, all within easy walking distance on a beautiful historic campus.  Programming in the Residential Care Section is heavily influenced by principles from Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing, and includes Evidence-Based psychotherapies including DBT Skills, Mindfulness-based Relapse Prevention, CBT-based Relapse Prevention, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, ACT, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and CBT for Depression.

The Residential Care Section is seeking an enthusiastic and clinically skilled Psychologist to join an exceptionally competent Residential Care team and to function as a program developer, trainer and psychotherapist within and across three Residential Units on campus. Veterans in the BHCL Residential Care section have been deemed to require a residential level of care for their psychological and substance abuse issues and are often in transition from homelessness and unemployment to independent community living and employment/meaningful community engagement.  All Veterans we treat carry one or more psychiatric diagnoses (most commonly Substance Use Disorder, PTSD, Psychotic Disorder and/or Depressive Disorder) from which they are in recovery.  The ideal applicant will be highly clinically skilled, have solid administrative and organizational skills, have experience in Residential care, have program development experience, have substantial Evidence-Based Psychotherapy experience for PTSD, Depression, and Substance Use Disorders, and will be familiar with Veteran culture.
