The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System (EKHCS) is a tertiary care health system providing Urgent Care, Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Research, Domiciliary Care, Nursing Home Care, and Geriatric Care to a 45-county primary service area which spans throughout Northeastern and Central Kansas and Missouri. EKHCS consists of two divisions: the Colmery-O'Neil Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas, and the Dwight D.Eisenhower Medical Center, located in Leavenworth, Kansas, as well as multiple Community Based Outpatient Clinics across the service area.  

The Psychiatric Recovery & Wellness Program, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation and Treatment program (MH-RRTP) is a stand-alone unit that provides a 24/7 structured and supportive residential environment as part of the mental health recovery process for diverse diagnoses ranging from SMI to PTSD to Depression and Anxiety. The program provides a holistic approach to mental health recovery, implementing psychotherapy, psychiatry, allopathic healthcare principles, as well as use of alternative medicine modalities to foster recovery, promote empowerment, and facilitate the eventual reintegration back into outpatient treatment and independent living.

This vacancy announcement is for one (1) position with the Behavioral Health Service of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System and will be stationed at the Topeka, KS division. In this role, you will function as a Staff Psychologist for the

Psychiatric Recovery & Wellness Program and will be performing a full range of psycholgoical services to patients. Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and assessment services on the PRWP.
  • Provide clinical leadership of and to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide program treatment outcome evaluation and ongoing program design expertise and services.
  • Provide training and supervision to interns and practicum students.
  • Provide other services to the Psychology Service/BHS as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
