    Summary

    VA TEXAS VALLEY COASTAL BEND HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
    The VATVCBHCS is comprised of the Corpus Christi Outpatient Clinic (CCOPC), Corpus Christi Specialty Clinic (CCSC), Harlingen Outpatient Clinic (HOPC), Health Care Center at Harlingen (HCC), Laredo Outpatient Clinic (LOPC), and McAllen Outpatient Clinic (MCOPC). The VATVCBHCS is an ambulatory health care system providing health care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and rehabilitation medicine. The VATVCBHCS also operates a 100-patient Home Based Primary Care program and a 200-patient Care Coordination Home Tele-Health Program. Through the utilization of inpatient/emergency department contracts, approximately 2600 inpatient admission and 5800 ER visits are managed by VATVCBHCS. Affiliated with the University of Texas Regional Academic Health Campus, the system has an active ambulatory care program and serves as a teaching and training site for medical residents. The VATVCBHCS is responsible for an enrollee population of over 30,000 veterans and 350,000 outpatient visits annually.

    Responsibilities

    *** Bargaining Position ***

    Join the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) as the Psychology Technician to the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Program. You will be assigned clinical responsibilities that fall primarily in the following areas: administration and scoring of specified psychological tests, assessment of behavioral and mood presentation of patients, case management, facilitating psycho-educational groups, and the training and education of patients and their families in quality of life issues and improved health living choices. You will also perform direct care, consultative and teaching functions under the supervision of the clinical psychologist on that team and according to principles of cooperative team organization and administration.

    • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the screening and testing program.
    • Aid in facilitating referrals to case management and follow-up assessment of patients who require referral to more specialized Mental Health Clinics.
    • Utilize Behavioral Health Lab to conduct initial screening of patients by telephone.
    • Responsible for carrying out many specific data collection procedures including running data reports, providing results and data analysis to the clinical staff as directed. 

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.(Alternate schedules may be necessary to meet the needs of the organization.)
