Radiation oncologist will have a range of responsibilities relating to providing medical care to our patients, which include: 1) Examining and diagnosing various types of cancers. 2) Consulting with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. 3) Recommending and ordering tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition expected. 4) Expert in the use of radiation to attach cancer cells, disrupting their reproductive process while carefully minimizing damage to surrounding tissue. 5) Documenting findings and treatment regimens and record progress or changes. 6) Coordinating with surgical and hematologist oncologists as needed. 7) Explaining cancer development stages to patients, discusses treatment options and assists in meeting pain management needs. 8) Prescribing treatment regimens for hospital inpatients and outpatients, which may include the use of externally applied beams of radiation or internally applied sources in the form of radioactive isotopes. 10) Ordering or interpreting the results of tests such as laboratory tests and diagnostic images. 11) Attending inpatient consultations in areas of specialty.
