    The Augusta Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a two-division Medical Center that provides tertiary care in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and spinal cord injury.     Responsibilities

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm/8am-4:30pm

    Location of position: Downtown Division 

    Duties:

    • Utilize the nursing process in managing, developing, implementing and evaluating each patient's individual plan of care with the interdisciplinary team to attain specific clinical outcomes.
    • Continuously monitors environment for potential and/or actual safety hazards.
    • Assure adherence to strict infection control practices by all personnel.
    • Guide and direct patient care delivery of support personnel.
    • Provide input for staff evaluation to rating official(s).
    • Participate in and initiate Quality Assessments and Improvement program activities as applicable to the clinical area.
    • Promote collaborative practices to provide and expedite quality patient care along the health care continuum; acts as patient advocate to assure appropriateness and quality of care.
    • Assess learning needs of patients and staff and implements appropriate teaching plans.
    • Initiate and/or participate studies pertaining to the care setting.
    • Maintain and upgrade own knowledge base and skills regarding critical care nursing and applies knowledge to nursing practice.
    • Provide patient care in cost-effective manner.
    • Prepare and assist with all endoscopic procedures including, administering moderate sedation, performance of pre and post-procedure patient assessments, care and processing of medical equipment, patient observation, as well as providing teaching and care to patients and families.
