As a medical, surgical, geriatrics and extended home care, rehabilitation and psychiatric facility, the Richmond VAMC provides comprehensive health care through primary care and tertiary care in subspecialty medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine, oncology and rehabilitation. Our facility has recently renovated medical units with state of the art equipment and now all we are missing is you.

NOTE:   The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate's education and experience and recommend the step at which the candidate will be placed in that specific grade.  The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

NOTE: This is an open continuous announcement which will remain open until September 29, 2017. This vacancy has multiple cut-off dates, with the first cut-off date being December 8, 2016 with subsequent cut-off dates every 14 days. Management retains the right to make additional selections as positions become available.

The Medicine Nurse is administratively responsible and accountable to the 4B or 4C Nurse Manager. The Staff Nurse applies the nursing process to systems at the unit level to improve care. Clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the provision of nursing care to patients including patient assessment and evaluation, the administration of medications,assistance in procedures, patient education, interdisciplinary care planning,care coordination and documentation of care delivered. Candidates must be able to walk, lift, kneel, move, push, and pull. The position may require extended periods of standing. Candidates must have the ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Work schedule: Extended evening and extended night shift. Management reserves the right to determine and/or change tour of duty.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status:  Exempt
