    Summary

    VA Connecticut Healthcare System was officially formed in 1995. We serve veterans in Connecticut and southern New England. The West Haven facility is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and a renowned research program. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, acute, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. Newington is an ambulatory care center that provides primary and specialty care. In addition to our main campuses, we operate six community-based primary care centers throughout the state.

    Responsibilities

    This position is located in the PIV Section of Police Service. Incumbent initiates and accomplishes a variety of complex duties. The incumbent serves as issuer for the PIV program. The incumbent is the access control administrator/operator for the division assigned. The incumbent initiates and accomplishes a variety of complex communication duties such as monitoring and directing response of police and radio dispatching to officers for response to calls for police assistance.  This position may include occasional duty at our Newington campus and community based outreach clinics throughout the state. 

    ·         Responsible for initializing and personalizing PIV cards

    ·         Coordinates with Human Resources for information related to PIV issuance

    ·         Receives and verifies personal identification data

    ·         Instructs recipients on use and placement of badges, ID Cards and decals

    ·         Serves as the access control administrator/operator for assigned division.

    ·         Enters required data into appropriate databases

    ·         Creates time zones, door groups and function groups for security systems

    ·         Alters programming on doors, inputs and relays to ensure proper operation.

    ·         Responsible for security of information contained in computerized systems.

    Work Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm.  May include rotating hours and weekends
