    Responsibilities

    SATP:
    This position is assigned to the outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) under the Mental Health Service. The incumbent participates as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and provides comprehensive triage services, intake assessments, individual, family, and group treatment, and case management services for a broad spectrum of Veterans with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The incumbent provides these services within the Intensive Outpatient Program, Regular Outpatient Program, during after-care programming, and to those considering entering care. The incumbent also provides support to urinalysis, breathalyzer, and Antabuse clinics and support to the Opioid Replacement Therapy program as needed.

    BHIP:
    The Outpatient Mental Health Clinic provides recovery-focused mental health care via a multi-disciplinary team-based model referred to as: Behavioral Health Integrated Program (BHIP). This collaborative model of care ensures well-coordinated and comprehensive care for Veterans seeking mental health treatment. BHIP teams in the MHC are comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers and nurse case managers.

    The incumbent functions as an independent therapist on a BHIP team and will be thoroughly familiar with the skills and techniques of psychosocial assessment and treatment, including the most current evidence based practices as applied to the veteran population. The incumbent will provide individual, group, family and couples' psychotherapy, crisis oriented emergency care as indicated, and case management services.

    PCMHI:
    The PCMHI team is a diverse team of health technicians, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. The goal of the PCMHI team is to provide same day access to MH services and provide triage, brief functional assessments, suicide risk evaluations, and short-term (4-6 session) evidenced based interventions for primary care patients. In addition, PCMHI team members provide Care Management services utilizing the BHL software.

    PCMHI services are delivered in person, over the phone or via telehealth. Services are delivered in 30 minute sessions and time is built into the schedule for warm handoffs and clinical consultations. PCMHI team members partner with PCPs to co-treat veteran's MH needs.

    The incumbent will work embedded in a primary care clinic.

    Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) Emergency Department Social Worker:
    The incumbent will cover an evening and/or weekend shift from 3:00pm-11:30pm and primarily perform behavioral health evaluations in the Denver VA Medical Center Emergency Department (ED). Qualified applicants will have experience with independent behavioral health crisis evaluation and triage care coordination. This position is part of the PES interdisciplinary team and will consult as the primary liaison to the ED as well as offer Veterans resource-linkage and treatment referral throughout the broader health care system. Key collaborations will include Psychiatry staff and Emergency Department providers. The position is supervised by the PES Team Manager within the Specialty Mental Health Section of the Mental Health Service.

    *Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT) (newly added)
    Incumbent is a professional social worker assigned to the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT). The PCT social worker delivers evidence-based assessment and treatment for Veterans who are seeking care for military related PTSD. Care management responsibilities include the management of a full-time caseload, coordination of care with other mental health services programs, and provision of social work and supportive services to Veterans and/or their families, including individual and group therapy to Veterans for issues related to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and other complex and diverse psychosocial problems. The incumbent may also provide psychoeducational and supportive counseling to family members. The incumbent is a member of an interdisciplinary team and is responsible for active participation in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and throughout the service.

    Work Schedule: Generally positions are Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts between 7am-5:00pm, some require working extended hours a couple times a week or possibly alternate schedules. Actual duty schedule will be coordinated between the supervisor and the selected candidate for the position.

    NOTE: Candidate must be willing to work weekends, holidays, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary.
