    Responsibilities

    Incumbent has broad program management responsibilities for the Social Work Service Programs at the VA Central California Healthcare System. The Supervisor will oversee the allocation of staff resources to best service the programs mission and purpose. Incumbent responsibilities include budget formulation, purchase code approvals, coordination of coverage of clinical services during provider absence, and completion of mid-year and annual performance ratings across disciplines.

    Incumbent develops, organizes, directs and manages all aspects including comprehensive development, planning and implementation of the program's policies and procedures, determining the needs of the program, overseeing and directing the quality and quantity of program-specific training, monitoring data driven outcomes, and establishing program initiatives and direction within limitations of available staff and budget.

    Incumbent is responsible timely completion of all program evaluations and documentation required by the Medical Center, VISN 21 and VACO. Incumbent is responsible for assuring compliance with appropriate accrediting/regulatory bodies such as JC, CARF, SOARS and OIG.

    Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

    - Meet with veterans as indicated or by their request to manage customer service issues.

    - Perform administrative investigations regarding allegations of abuse, harassment.

    - Prepare adverse event reports.

    - Develop community relationships and resources to better meet the needs of veterans.

    - Coordinate with other Supervisor s to enhance veteran care.

    - Attend meetings.

    - As an accountable and public health care system, the Supervisor will be knowledgeable of the results of external evaluations including those of formal accrediting bodies (e.g., JC, CARF, etc.) as well as those of internal VA evaluations and investigations (e.g., OIG/CAP, AIBs, IT Security
    audits, etc.). The Supervisor will develop a system to ensure the programs are compliant with external accreditation requirements.

    - The Supervisor is responsible for developing and appraising the effectiveness of the Inpatient Psychiatry Service in accordance with Veterans Affairs, Central Office, and local facility policies and procedures.

    - Serves on Medical Center, VISN and National VA committees.

    - Represents the Medical Center at professional community groups/events and committees, in conferences/meetings with higher ranking managers, supervisors, and staff from other disciplines or work units, and/or with representatives of local public interest groups, congressional district offices and employees of State and local governments.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
