    Embark on a career opportunity as a GeroPsychologist f for the Leavenworth VA Medical Center (VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System-VAEKHCS). EKHCS is a complexity 1c facility and has robust inpatient and outpatient treatment programs including acute medical inpatient, icu/pcu, acute psychiatry/ mental health rehab beds and three community living centers. We offer comprehensive outpatient physical medicine and rehab, mental health, geriatrics and prosthetics. We do extensive community outreach and placement.
    Area of Consideration: First area of consideration will be given to NFEE bargaining unit employees at Leavenworth VAMC. Second area of consideration will be given to EKHCS permanent employees. Third AOC will be given to the public (U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals).

    Responsibilities

    The GeroPsychologist provides mental health services to the Geriatrics and Extended Care Patients. Major duties will include, but are not limited to:

    • Facilitates and promotes the transformation of the nursing home to reflect home-like and person-centered principles.
    • Promotes the delivery of evidence-based psychosocial and environmental interventions.
    • Provides screening, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders.
    • Assess and treat subclinical symptoms.
    • Provides psychological prevention services.
    • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions.
    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
