This vacancy is located within Behavioral Health VA Care Line at the VA Medical Center, Bath, New York.  As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to perform clinical, outpatient psychiatric duties involving the collaboration with an interdisciplinary clinical team (Psychology Technicians, Psychiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, etc.) in the delivery of services related to mental health treatments.

Primary responsibilities include, but  are not limited to:

  • providing psychiatry care, in an outpatient setting, for patients with mental health disorders to include but not limited to anxiety, mood, psychotic, substance use, and cognitive disorders
  • provide general outpatient mental health services
  • provide consultative support (to primary care clinics, Urgent Care, inpatient medicine, nursing home units, and home based primary care)
  • provide Telepsych services for remote community based clinics
  • provide general substance abuse services to include support for domicilliary rehabilitation  program (and anything else that should be included).
  • conducting routine psychiatric evaluations of new and established patients, you will periodically perform compensation and pension evaluations
  • providing tele-mental health care and treatment for substance use disorders including but not limited to use of buprenorphine
  • on a periodic basis, you will be tasked with psychiatry coverage assignments in various other mental health service areas such as: Consultation & Liaison, Emergency Department , and community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs)

Staff psychiatrists are expected (when needed and as assigned) to provide supervision of residents and health professionals.

SCHEDULE: The majority of daily working hours performed by members of our Psychiatry team are scheduled between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; with rotating coverage of off tour clinics. To be discussed at time of interview.

SALARY: $99,957- $240,000. Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standard Board and Compensation Panel (for physicians and dentists) in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected.  The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

A Recruitment Incentive/Relocation Incentive of up to 15% of salary has been authorized for highly qualified candidates.
