This vacancy is located within Behavioral Health VA Care Line at the VA Medical Center, Bath, New York. As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to perform clinical, outpatient psychiatric duties involving the collaboration with an interdisciplinary clinical team (Psychology Technicians, Psychiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, etc.) in the delivery of services related to mental health treatments.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Staff psychiatrists are expected (when needed and as assigned) to provide supervision of residents and health professionals.
SCHEDULE: The majority of daily working hours performed by members of our Psychiatry team are scheduled between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; with rotating coverage of off tour clinics. To be discussed at time of interview.
SALARY: $99,957- $240,000. Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Standard Board and Compensation Panel (for physicians and dentists) in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.
A Recruitment Incentive/Relocation Incentive of up to 15% of salary has been authorized for highly qualified candidates.

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(2) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
d. Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
e. Residency Training. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

VetPro ensures the consistency of the credentialing process for all employees and provides a reliable electronic data bank of health care provider credentials. This system is used nationwide by all VHA healthcare facilities in an effort to maximize patient safety. This prerequisite must be initiated after an employment offer has been extended. Employment commencement dates will be contingent upon the completion and approval of the VetPro credentialing/verification process.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical patient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
