Duties

The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for one Full-time, Permanent, Staff Psychologist (Compensation & Pension). This position will be located in the Mental Health Service Line. As a Staff Psychologist, you are responsible for the following duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Performs Compensation and Pension/Disability mental health evaluations for service members and Veterans based on requirements listed in the VA Form 2507 received from the Veterans Affairs Regional Office (VARO).
  • Performs the examination using established guidelines published by the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA), Compensation and Pension Evaluation Project (CPEP), Disability Examination Management Office (DEMO), the C&P Service, and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). 
  • Performs the required examination and/or provides the requested opinion necessary to make a decision on a service member's or Veteran's claim for service-connection.
  • Performs a clinical interview and determine diagnoses based on standardized criteria. 
  • Conducts competency evaluations and/or psychological testing when needed. These examinations are for use by the VARO for rating purposes only and there is no treatment involved.
  • Participates in education, research and clinical consultation as needed. 
  • Generates C&P exam reports utilizing appropriate templates provided by VARO or VACO for the official record of the Veterans'/service members' C&P examination.
  • Engages in CPEP/DEMO internal review procedures and other C&P administrative duties as necessary and assigned.
  • The C&P psychologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate Veterans/service members served by the Sioux Falls VAHCS. 

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday - Friday, Day Administrative hours. Rotating Weekends and Holidays may be required. Additional information regarding the work schedule of this position will be discussed during the interview process.
