    The Mountain Home VA Healthcare system is seeking a very well-qualified Psychologist to serve as a Staff Psychologist, Psychosocial Recovery Treatment Program (PRTP), at our main campus in Mountain Home (Johnson City), Tennessee. The PRTP Psychologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, social work, peer support, work therapy, and recreation therapy. Psychologists in this setting are providing services to Veterans who require a residential level of care to address serious mental illness. Typical specific job duties in this setting include (but are not limited to) individual and group therapy, psychodiagnostic assessment, treatment team meetings, and treatment planning.

    Additional duties as a full-performance level VA Staff Psychologist will include, but are not limited to:

    • Diagnosing mental disorders and providing a full-range of psychodiagnostic services, conducting psychological assessments for clinical or administrative purposes as directed by the Chief of Psychology or designated Supervisory Psychologist;
    • Treating mental disorders through a variety of modalities and providing adjunctive interventions for treatment for medical disorders;
    • Providing a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual, group and family psychotherapy, caregiver stress support, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal and other forms of evidence based psychotherapy;
    • Completing administrative duties including attending organizational meetings;
    • Serving as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees, assisting in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients;
    • Assisting in preparation of RFPs and grant proposals, as assigned;
    • Representing Psychology Service on decision-making committees at the Medical Center or Healthcare System level; and,
    • Representing the Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees.

    Work Schedule: The work schedule is primarily administrative, Monday - Friday, 7:45 am until 4:30 pm. Hours outside this typical tour may be required to satisfy the needs of patient care. Tour changes are at the discretion of the Chief, Psychology Service, or the designated Psychologist Program Manager.
