    Responsibilities

    Note: A detail is the temporary assignment of an employee to a different position for a specified period with the employee returning to his/her original position at the end of the detail. There is no formal position change. Officially the employee continues to hold the position from which detailed and keep the same status and pay.

    Note: A temporary promotion is the temporary assignment of an employee to a higher graded position for a specified period of time, with the employee returning to his/her permanent position upon the expiration of the temporary action. In order for an employee to be temporarily promoted, he/she must meet the same qualification requirements that are necessary for a permanent promotion. The temporary promoted employee receives the higher graded salary for the period assigned and gains quality experience and time-in-grade at the higher grade level.

    Position Description Title/PD#:  Supervisory Health System Specialist (GPM)/#15190-0

    • The Group Practice Manager (GPM) reports to the Chief of Staff.  The primary purpose of the GPM is to provide oversight and administrative management of all ambulatory care services in the CNVAMC and related Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and Primary Care Tele-Health Outpatient Clinic (PCTOC) as it relates to access to care.
    • Responsible for primary care, mental health, specialty care, and ambulatory surgery clinics oversight and integration into an efficient Clinic Practice Management model. Measures and assesses clinical business activities with an emphasis on improving clinical product line performance.
      Responsible for supporting high quality, accessible, cost effective health care services.  Also, responsible for ensuring a high quality patient experience for the Veteran, by acting on feedback from the Veteran, his or her family and/or significant others, CNVAMC employees, and expert clinical staff.  In addition, the GPM works with the CNVAMC Executive Leadership Team to develop strategic plans for the facility as it relates to access to care.  
    • Central to the ACOD-GPM's purpose of ensuring an exceptional Veteran patient experience is the development, standardization, implementation, and sustainment of key operational/business processes, including scheduling practices, to ensure efficient and effective management of the clinic.  The GPM will identify and implement improvements to optimize clinic management processes, access strategies, and "make-buy" decisions through an in depth analysis of in-house and non-VA provided care. 
    • Implement a local clinic management system based on national requirements/guidance and facility specific needs.  Work with Service Chiefs, supervisors, associate GPMs, and clinic practice management team to consistently evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the local staff, provide feedback, and determine what training is needed locally to have the largest impact.
