    Responsibilities

    The incumbent serves as the Supervisory Medical Technologist for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center. The incumbent manages a laboratory program, which performs high complexity diagnostic testing for veteran patients in a Medical Center. Services are provided to veterans located in Primary Care, Psychiatry, Long-Term Care, Community Based Outpatient Clinics and Rehabilitative Medicine settings. The incumbent directs the technical and administrative program and arranges for professional consultative services from the pathology group. Responsibilities include quality management oversight for all Ancillary Testing. The incumbent functions as the supervisor and coordinates Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service specific applications. Work involves analyzing a variety of unusual technical and administrative problems, assessing program effectiveness, and providing authoritative guidance for operations, personnel, and management. The incumbent also fulfills routine line responsibilities in all laboratory operations working directly with veteran patients from phlebotomy through test processing.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel for training or Community Based Outpatient Clinic inspections may be required.
