    Summary

    This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

    The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

    About the Position:
    This position is located at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), under the Department of Administration, Resource Management Office. The NICoE helps service members and their families manage traumatic brain injury (TBI) and/or psychological health (PH) conditions through cutting-edge diagnostic evaluations, comprehensive treatments, outpatient clinical care, family education/support services, and high-quality research. Treatment plans help promote healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Physician (Psychiatry) you serve as an expert in the field of Psychiatry; perform duties as a practitioner and consultant in Psychiatry. Provide the full range of clinical services and care to service members with impairments from combat/operational psychological stress and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Provide routine, complex and emergency behavioral health care for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders. Provide appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers internal and external to the NICoE. Provide professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff, such as psychologists, advanced practical nurses, social workers, as well as military-specific liaison work with commanders. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement studies, utilization review, risk management, and peer review activities. Ensure compliance throughout the area of responsibility with National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and DoD published standards. Participates in the Psychiatric Residency and Fellowship training programs. Oversees medical students, residents, fellows and other behavioral health trainees in the area of responsibility. Perform the full range of supervisory personnel tasks such as developing performance standards; planning work to be accomplished; settings priorities; preparing schedules; evaluating work performance; resolving complaints from employees; and finding ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
